The Pillbox™ is a self-contained housing for field installation of electronics packages that need protection from the elements as well as unwelcomed attention. Inside, there is up to 8 sq. ft. of panel space with 4’ of mounting DIN rail for mounting equipment and 4’ of wiring Panduit. The equipment panel slides in behind the retainer system which allows for easy removal of all mounted components. The bottom of the retainer system includes a battery tray allowing the removal and service of the batteries without tools for disassembly. The Pillbox’s integral articulated mast is locked in place when the lid is closed, but once opened, can easily be rotated to the horizontal position for access to mast-mounted hardware. Quickconnect fittings make complete removal of all wiring harnesses and components a snap. The open cover provides a convenient tray to hold meters or small parts or diagnostic instruments while you work.
Features:
Ease of Installation
- No foundation pad is required, the Pillbox installs in a roughly 2’ sq. hole without forms or rebar much like a fencepost with concrete back-fill to complete the installation.
- Assembly of the complete unit can be accomplished in minutes with only a wrench to tighten the antenna mast brace flange.
Tamper-resistant
- The articulated mast support flange is locked in place and cannot be lowered without opening the lid.
- The lid has a protective cowling that prevents bolt cutters from cutting the lock.
- Unobtrusive profile reduces interest by vandals. Available in earth-tone colors
- The round pipe body will deflect shots that don’t hit within a narrow area facing the shooter
- Antenna and solar panel are too high to reach even when standing on the Pillbox lid.
Low Maintenance
- Existing enclosures expose equipment to higher above-ground temperatures. The Pillbox stores batteries in the bottom 2’ of the housing, reducing their temperature. Battery manufacturers state that each 10° C reduction towards room temperature can double battery life
- The body and inner panel and cage are all powder-coated for
corrosion resistance
Ease of Maintenance
- Raising the panel to its first locked position provides access to the RTU for programming. No tools are required for this operation.
- Open lid acts as a tray for tools or laptop
- Raising the panel into its upper locked position allows access to both power and signal quick-connect plugs and the antenna leader cable. Once these are disconnected, the panel can slide out completely and the cage can be removed, all without tools. Batteries slide out with the cage assembly.
- With or without the removal of internal components, the mast
can be lowered for access to the solar panel and antenna.
Engineered Solution
- This product has gone through a thorough engineering process and is wind-rated for your environment with a 40w panel and yagi antenna.
- Point-to-point testing of all installed components prior to shipment.
